BabyBjorn Soft Bib: Review

One of the first bibs I purchased for Aiden’s eating was the BabyBjorn Soft Bib. I’d always thought it a great idea with a huge pocket to catch spills and easy-to-clean design.

Day 173

In practicality, it does what it says it will. But Aiden hates it. Sometimes he’ll tolerate it, but he often scrunches his neck because he dislikes the feel of the bib. The large pocket also keeps him pushed back from the high chair tray, which annoys him considerably. If you tuck it under, sometimes it gets stuck.

Perhaps if you are feeding your child in a booster seat, or your child is large enough to have the entire bib above the table or tray (as their website shows), it would be ok. We will re-evaluate as Aiden grows larger.

We have one of those bibs, too. What it worked well for, and the reason we originally bought it, was daycare. When our daughter was in daycare at ages 1 and 2 all the children needed bibs, and having a bib that didn't require laundering was awesome. The daycare staff could just wash her bib with the dishes, and it didn't have to come home. However, around the house, we've never really used it. As you say, it doesn't play well with the high chair. And since we have laundry facilities, we can use a regular old bib. Or fall back on my old standby of just stripping the kid down to a diaper and avoiding all laundry altogether.

I'm not keen on doing laundry, so I like the wipe-able bibs. I have found a washable one that Aiden likes better, but I haven't reviewed it yet. :) Maybe when summer hits I'll be stripping down a bit more, lol.
