I’ve always hated that phrase: “sleeping like a baby.” You mean, barely sleeping? But now, I see it… And not because Aiden sleeps well. Because, even at nearly 2 years old, he’s my baby again when he sleeps.
He’s my baby when he sucks his thumb and curls up on his blanky. When his little lips part and he twitches a smile. When he melts onto my shoulder after falling asleep in the car. He’s my baby always, but most in these moments.

It’s not a perfect photo, but sometimes these moments of calm in the day are too precious not to share.
I wonder if it’s telling that one of these times Aiden lay his head back and said “tired”? #imitation

Toddlers love to be chased. Enough said.

We have spent a lot of time in the past year with Michelle and her son Cole, who is about 6 weeks younger than Aiden. We met them at Gymboree class and became fast friends. The boys have always been very close, developmentally, and Michelle loves going out as much as we do! I think I can credit Michelle with help keeping me sane through the dreary Spring, though my sanity is another story.
Our two boys are growing up too quickly. Perhaps Coley a little faster than my little Aiden ;)

When I was digging through my Flickr stream to find all the park photos for my reviews, I came across these two gems of our matching boys. So adorable.
I took Aiden for his second haircut just a few days before his Tia Tamara and Uncle Josh were married. It had been just under 4 months since he had his first haircut, but the experience was much easier on him. He tried to balk when the scissors came out, but I explained to him that a haircut was just like getting his nails trimmed and he calmed down. By trimming quickly and moving from chair to chair, we kept him happy(ish). He remembers the haircut with some distress, however. lol

Before and after
I had the front of his hair kept a little longer, since it’s still very thin there, but mostly just tidied the hair up. I don’t mind longer hair on little boys, so long as it’s neat looking. Aiden’s hair right now tends to sweep off to the side no matter what I do, so we’ll see how it looks once it fills in more.
Such a handsome little man!
