More Rewards Do Work: Free Water Table

We’ve made one of our first “big” purchases with our Save-On-Foods ‘More Rewards‘ card. We are notoriously bad at taking along the coupons that could get us a lot of extra points, but now that we have Aiden, I’ve been at least trying to be consistent in this area. At the very least, we can translate those points into Gift Cards for restaurants.

However, we recently cashed in 22,000 points to pick up a Little Tikes water table, the ‘Spiralin’ Seas Waterpark‘. I’d been on the hunt for a water activity table and, though this one had a few more toys than I thought were necessary for Aiden to enjoy it, it was FREE. So, Yay!

I can’t wait for more sunny days for us to play outside on the patio!

Have you ever purchased anything with rewards points programs?

Rockin Rider: Review

Aiden received the Rockin Rider for Hanukkah from his Bobe. The rocking horse / pony is smaller than many rocking horses and is animated. When you press its ears, it either talks or sings a little song.

At first, Aiden was petrified of the pony. After a while, he’d go up to the pony to press its ears. He would dance to the little song, repeatedly. I thought I had a video of that, but I can’t find it.

At long last, Aiden wanted to ride the pony. Not long after that, he figured out how to get on and off the pony on his own and to rock back and forth. Now, he’ll go on just about any rocking horse and do the same.

B. Zany Zoo: Review

Aiden received a B. Zany Zoo for his birthday and it’s remained a colourful fixture in our livingroom since then. It was available at Costco at the time, for the holiday season, though now it appears to be available online or at Target in the US.

The activity cube features lots of toddler-friendly activities including bead loops, doors with animals behind, animal-based alphabet side and animals that race down paths on the side.

Though I can’t say Aiden gives any toy a whole lot of time, he does enjoy learning about the animals and spinning the alphabet cubes. He doesn’t know how to raise the racing pieces, but enjoys pushing them down. He can operate the whole top of the Zoo as well.

I think he probably plays with his activity table more – musical toys are high in his list of loves – but it’s a good addition to our toy ensemble.

BTW, I’ve begun experimenting with photos of toys as an art form in itself. A fun way to look at items that are otherwise a bit of an eyesore.

Daddy’s Cars

These cars used to belong to Ianiv. They then made the long trip from Mexico to Argentina to be played with by Ianiv’s younger cousins. They’ve now travelled to Canada to belong to Aiden.

I wonder what travels these cars will yet see…

What’s In Our Bath?

Aiden has always loved bathing. Well, almost always. He hasn’t always loved the drying off part, that’s for sure, but now even that has it’s charms for him, what with the knee bouncing and the tummy blowing. Anyway, this post is about toys – bath toys – and what we enjoy playing with.

  • We’re just learning to use the TaDoodles tub crayons
  • V Tech sing and count fish – we got this for Aiden’s birthday. He likes the songs and it’s neat that it can be used as a watering can, but it does have a creepy tendency to go tummy-up in the water
  • A watering can – he’s even learning to tip it himself. Also great for sorting things into.
  • Stacking cups
  • Some squirt toys, though we don’t use them for squirting. He actually plays fun games with them now where he throws them to Daddy or tries to catch them.
  • A bath-friendly floating book
  • A floating boat
  • Tootin’ Tubmates - connecting boats with animals that can be used as whistles (blowing or by sinking in the water) – Aiden loves them!
  • A string-pulled swimming frog

What’s in YOUR bath??
